Parents Battle of the Bands: Connecting through Music

Parents Battle of the Bands exists to put music back at the centre of everyday life. We bring adults together in community-led band battles to raise funds that directly support inclusive music programs within the public primary school system.

As communities prepare and gather for our events, the experience draws people together, strengthens local bonds, encourages social engagement, and creates welcoming spaces where everyone feels part of something bigger.

Over time, this cycle embeds music into daily life as a levelling, uplifting, and transformative force that inspires, unites, and empowers both children and adults, with enormous benefits for community and individual wellbeing.

An inherent part of this loop is the programs it funds, giving children regular, joyful access to music, tending to the creative seed already within them. Confidence and collaboration are hereby nurtured — the human qualities we need most today. The cultivation that begins here is later harvested as a life filled with music. Keeping the cycle alive.
Music. Connection. Creativity. Growth. Turn It Up!

  • A panel of guest judges, artists and music industry insiders, watches, deliberates, and awards 1st and 2nd place.
  • The winners? They get to hold onto the glory (and the bragging rights) for a full year… until the next Battle kicks off and the cycle begins again!

  • If the school is on board, selling tickets becomes easier. But here’s the thing: the band doesn’t need the school’s “permission". They can decide to participate and the proceeds still get donated to the school.
  • Bonus perks: The school now has a band ready to perform at events like their fête, trivia night, or even neighbouring school fêtes. It’s an incredible way to show the younger generation the joy of live music performance.

At Parents Battle of the Bands, we honour the Traditional Custodians of the lands where music and stories have been shared for generations. We pay our respects to Elders past and present — and we celebrate the spirit of music as a timeless way to educate, connect, inspire, and bring community together.
