PBOB and Rotary share a commitment to connecting people and strengthening communities through participation.
Our collaboration brings this to life through music and student leadership. Schools establish an EarlyAct club with their local Rotary club, with the opportunity for Rotary to contribute an additional $20 per PBOB ticket sold towards the school’s music and performing arts programs (capped at $1500, the equivalent of 75 tickets sold).

At Middle Park Primary School, a member of the Rotary Club of Port Phillip met with the school to help establish its EarlyAct club and support students to get started.
Students then met to plan ways to promote the Battle, including setting up small promotional booths to encourage families to attend. Ticket sales grew from fewer than 40 to 91, and Rotary contributed $1,500 towards the school’s music and performing arts programs, alongside PBOB’s donation. With support from school staff and Rotary, the students are now working on other community projects and an international project.
Thanks to this initiative, Middle Park Primary School is set to receive a $2,752 investment into their music program instead of an estimated $1,100 (based on the last two years, and the amount of ticket sold before the EarlyAct implementation).
EarlyAct is a student service club supported by school staff and a local Rotary club.
Students help choose and lead projects benefiting their school, local and international communities as well as an environmental project, developing leadership, teamwork and care for others.
When established through the PBOB connection, the Earlyact club commits to help promote the Battle and encourage community participation, hence considerably increasing the investment into their music and performing arts program.
Following the Middle Park pilot, we are inviting participating PBOB schools across Victoria to explore this collaboration for 2027. Rotary support is arranged with the sponsoring club. The $20 per ticket contribution is capped at $1,500.

At Parents Battle of the Bands, we honour the Traditional Custodians of the lands where music and stories have been shared for generations. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging, and we honour music as a timeless force for connection, learning, inspiration, and community.
Music is magic; a sign of the times, a parade across (new power) generations — bringing us together, giving voice, and shaping culture.
We are indeed gathered here today to get through this thing called life
