The concept: What we do AND HOW

People celebrate on stage with bright lights and enthusiastic applause.

LET US SET THE STAGE FOR YOU

AFTER THE BATTLE SEASON SHOWDOWN

AFTER THE BATTLE SEASON SHOWDOWN

  • Parents and carers from a public primary school come together to form a band.
  • They choose 4 to 5 songs - covers, and sometimes a bold original - and rehearse their way to a 15min set for their local PBOB Battle.
  • Tickets get sold through the school's communication channels and the parents' networks.
  • The bands take the stage at the PBOB partner venue in their area.

TWO AWARDS

  • The Turn It Up Award: celebrates the school/band which has sold most tickets. They’re our community engagement and music program supporter champions.
  • The Mic Drop Award: our guest judges (artists and music industry insiders) decide on the recipent, who walks away with bragging rights for a whole year!

  • PBOB makes donations to participating schools to support their music and performing arts programs. Our goal is 65% to 75% of the revenue generated through ticket sales. To date we have achieved this.
  • The donations are proportional to the amount of tickets sold after the full season is reconciled (Term 4). Schools are hence rewarded for their efforts in promoting the event and bringing their community together. It’s a win win that builds connection and keeps the momentum going.
  • Schools contribute to our impact measurement by completing the PBOB Acquittal Report and sharing how the funding is making a difference in their school community.

IMPACT BEHIND THE SCENE

IMPACT BEHIND THE SCENE

IMPACT BEHIND THE SCENE

  • Communities come together, both within and between schools, through the shared love of live music.
  • Music venues benefit from increased revenue and exposure.
  • Connection happens on every level: socially, within families, and internally as people rediscover play and creativity.
  • The band becomes a school asset.  They perform at school and other community events. It’s an incredible way to show the younger generation the joy of live music performance.
  • Support is generated for music and performing arts programs in participating primary schools.

Music becomes more visible in our schools, through the parents band's modelling and the boosted music programs.

STEP BY STEP TO JOIN

IMPACT BEHIND THE SCENE

IMPACT BEHIND THE SCENE

  • It only takes ONE enthusiastic member of the school community to step up and commit.
  • Fill out the Expression of Interest (EOI) at the bottom.
  • Recruit a band - PBOB can help with tips (we have am Starting Kit)
  • It is not a school sanctioned event. A supportive school is a plus, as it increases engagement but the band can participate out of its own volition. PBOB will still make a donation to the school after the Battle Season is complete.

EOI

At Parents Battle of the Bands, we honour the Traditional Custodians of the lands where music and stories have been shared for generations. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging, and we honour music as a timeless force for connection, learning, inspiration, and community.

Music is magic; a sign of the times, a parade across (new power) generations — bringing us together, giving voice, and shaping culture.

We are indeed gathered here today to get through this thing called life
